Laura Love is a charismatic, energetic, and sought-after performer for all manner of festivals, concerts and special events. Over the past 15 years she's received great media attention and critical acclaim for her nine CD releases, as well as a devoted following for her astonishingly great live shows. Laura's incomparable music has landed her on Billboard’s annual top ten list, evoked rave reviews everywhere from the New York Times to People, and guaranteed her a place in Utne Reader’s list of “Artists Who Will Shake the World.” Her brilliant new CD, NeGrass, is a collection of Negro spirituals, field hollers, and bluegrass.
While Laura's music may be hard to pigeon-hole, it's remarkably easy to love. Variously termed everything from folk-funk to Afro-Celtic to funk-a-billy groove, the sound, the energy and the exquisite vocals have made Laura Love the favorite of countless festivals, weekends and concert series.
The Duo is Laura with her longtime bandmate, Jen Todd, performing primarily acoustic versions of Laura's original music, a few of Jen's superb songs, and a smattering of traditional tunes and surprising covers. On her own, Jen Todd is an astounding singer, songwriter and guitarist, well known throughout the Northwest as a result of her work with the fabulous band 3 Track Mind. Together, Laura and Jen are a mighty, mighty vocal force. It's a quieter and more subtle show than what she does with the full-fledged band, and just about perfect for a Valentine's Day at CSPS.
