“Powerhouse quintet of traditional musicians with attitude…bringing drawing room grandeur and high spirits together”   — Irish Times

Merging “swagger with traditional expertise,” the Irish lads in Slide are re-energizing Celtic music with diverse songs ranging from soulful and sorrowful to contagiously energetic.

Slide first came together in 1999 when the group performed in various pubs throughout Bandon, Co. Cork for a local music festival. The reaction inspired Slide to release The Flying Pig, a debut that Irish Music Magazine hailed as “beautifully recorded to preserve the brilliance and clarity of solo and ensemble playing that is positively mind-blowing.” The publication awarded Slide Best Newcomer distinction in 2001, leading to gigs throughout Europe.

The album attracted the attention of renowned Irish talents like Grammy-winning composer Bill Whelan; singers/songwriters Liam Clancy, Damien Dempsey and John Spillane; Danú and the Progressive group Stocktons Wing — who eventually recruited Slide for their own music projects.

In 2005, Slide — which consists of concertina virtuoso Aogán Lynch, fiddler-guitarist Daire Bracken, bouzouki and mandolin player Mick Broderick, pianist-flautist Éamonn de Barra, and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Dave Curley — won the coveted Young Musicwide Award.

Their fourth and most recent CD, BEO Live, features the band in its element, playing to audiences throughout Ireland. The release features lots of hot reels and musical interplay to make the heart ache and the head spin. Don’t miss ‘em.
