Peppino D’Agostino isn’t just a virtuoso guitarist; he composes, arranges, collaborates, improvises and will often sing, in both English and Italian.
D’Agostino has been hailed as “a guitarist’s guitarist” by Acoustic Guitar Magazine as well as “a giant of the acoustic guitar” by The San Diego Reader. The San Francisco Chronicle summed up the essential difference that distinguishes D’Agostino’s music from other guitarists when it simply dubbed him “a poet.”
That poetic eloquence, grace and magic saturates Nine White Kites, his first album of new compositions for the guitar in a decade. The set of 11 songs and two bonus tracks launches with the soaring fingerpicking of the title track, leading the listener through a ‘tour de force’ showcase of D’Agostino’s mastery and artistry.
A native of Italy, D’Agostino has made his mark as a guitarist since he arrived in America a little over 25 years ago. The readers of Guitar Player voted him “Best Acoustic Guitarist” in 2007. The following year he won two bronze medals in Acoustic Guitar’s People’s Choice Awards for “Best Acoustic Album of All Time” (2002’s Every Step of The Way) and “Finger-style Guitarist of the Year.”
