Maggie Koerner

A force of grace to be reckoned with,” Live for Live Music has called her. “Maggie Koerner dazzles audiences with her ease on stage and a voice that naturally transfers from one genre to the next.” Indeed, the New Orleans singer-songwriter has established herself on the American tour circuit with her incredible live performances, as well as her appearances with esteemed, festival-favorite acts. The Shreveport native spent the majority of 2013 and 2014 as lead singer and front-woman for legendary New Orleans funk outfit Galactic. Striking out on her own in 2015, she and her band were featured at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Austin City Limits and the Pemberton Festival. She’s shared the stage with Widespread Panic, Gov’t Mule and Charles Bradley, to name but a few. Now stepping out in a more intimate direction, she’s writing new material and recently released a new album Dig Down Deep, where her voice is given room to slowly smolder, leaving behind a chilled but haunting trace. Reflecting a musical upbringing that’s both artistic and ethical, she says of the new material, “I want music to make people feel again, to ask questions again about what the hell is happening around us.” Encouraging the listener to also dig down deep, Koerner says “We need more songs like ‘Stop children, what’s that sound?’ We don’t need more bullshit music.”
