Conjure: A Cycle in Three Parts

  • Fri Aug 11 - Sat Aug 12 2017 - 8:00 pm • CSPS Hall
  • $12 advance | $15 door

SPT Theatre is pleased to present Conjure: A Cycle in Three Parts, a new play by Jennifer Rouse, directed by Janeve West. Each of the three acts explores the timelessness of relationships between women, ranging from ancient bonds, to moments of terrifying bravery and fierce loyalty. The end result is a tapestry that reveals a distinctly female struggle with creation, identity, love, belief and self. Utilizing choreographed movement, beautifully poetic dialogue, sound and song, actors move from one location to another, shifting between characters and time periods as they uncover an ancient story of memory and spirit.

Playwright Jen Rouse grew up in Des Moines, attended Iowa State University, and has lived in Las Vegas, Washington and Iowa City.  She currently serves as Consulting Librarian for the Performing Arts and Humanities at Cornell College in Mount Vernon. Her first collection of poetry, Acid and Tender, inspired by the life and work of artist Frida Kahlo, was published by Headmistress Press in 2017.
