Bob Untiedt joins the Legion Arts staff as Finance and Development Specialist after years of volunteering with the organization. A native of eastern Iowa, he grew up in Davenport and Durant, Iowa, and attended Coe College in the 1980s. Among other things, he’s worked as a community organizer for 12 years in San Francisco and Los Angeles (he likes to tell people that as Executive Director of Hollywood Interfaith, a position he held while in LA, he was officially a “Hollywood Director”).
In 2005, Bob returned to Cedar Rapids, where he helped found the Linn County Nonprofit Resource Center. Because of that experience, he is still an occasional consultant to nonprofits, largely for development and strategic planning. Most recently, he spent two years as Executive Director of Main Street Ottumwa, a community development organization. He’s still basking in the shared glow of an 850-person “Ladies Night Out” retail shopping event in that small city; 30-plus businesses worked hard to get nearly 4 percent of that town’s population to visit retailers downtown on a Friday night. He looks forward to working with many others to help strengthen relationships and finances at Legion Arts.
