KETTLE
Weather Is Always Nice: Recent Paintings
Cedar Rapids artist Kettle (aka John Soukup) studied art at Kirkwood Community College, where he received an associate degree, and graphic design at the University of Northern Iowa, where he was awarded a BA.
His work has been shown at galleries and museums throughout Iowa, and has been included in shows in Utah, Virginia, Minnesota, California, Oregon and Wisconsin.
His illustrations, whimsical and surreal, have appeared in such publications as Kitten, Copperpress and Art Scene. Nomi's Rainbow, his collaboration with writer Kent Shankle, has been published as both a book and a DVD.
His paintings are included in private collections throughout the US, and also in Thailand, Australia, Germany and England.
His work is featured at Gravity Lounge, Charlottesville; Henry Myrtle Gallery, Cedar Falls; and Campbell-Steele Gallery, Marion.
